HI, I'M KATRINA.

I believe you don't need acres of land, endless free time, or a perfect farmhouse to live a more self-sufficient life.

Heche's Homestead exists to help everyday families grow more of their own food, preserve what they harvest, and create a healthier, more intentional home, one small step at a time.

Everything I share comes from our own half-acre homestead in Wisconsin, where we're proving that ordinary people can build extraordinary food security right where they are.

HOW IT STARTED

My journey began in 2012 while living overseas. Experiencing different cultures changed the way I thought about food, waste, and the value of knowing how to provide for ourselves.

When my husband and I eventually settled down, we didn't have a large farm. We had a second floor city apartment and full-time jobs.

Instead of waiting for the "perfect someday homestead," we started with what we had.

One pot on our fire escape became several. A compost bin fit into our apartment balcony. We moved from apartments to homes, and eventually to our half-acre homestead. We learned to can, bake sourdough, render tallow, preserve hundreds of jars of food, and slowly replace store-bought convenience along the way with homemade systems that made life simpler, not harder.

Years later, we're still learning, still experimenting, and still finding better ways to grow more of what we eat while wasting less and relying less on the grocery store.

WELCOME TO OUR HOMESTEAD

Whether you're dreaming about your first garden, learning to preserve food, looking for practical homesteading systems, or simply trying to make your home a little healthier, I'm glad you're here.

My goal isn't to convince you to do everything.

It's to help you confidently do one more thing than you did yesterday.

Because every loaf of bread baked, every tomato canned, every herb grown, and every new skill learned is another step toward a more resilient home.

Welcome to Heche's Homestead. I'm so glad you're here!
